Hi, I’m Ramya Roopa!

I am an ecologist working with Wildlife Conservation Trust, a non-governmental organization in India. My work involves studying the population ecology and threats associated with endangered riverine species, such as freshwater turtles, Ganges river dolphins, and gharials, using a combination of statistical modelling, geospatial analysis and remote sensing.

I have a special interest in understanding the ecological impacts of hunting and trade on wildlife. I have been studying this issue for freshwater turtles in India, which are heavily exploited for the illegal pet and meat trade. Please find more about my work in the CV tab.
